PEOPLE
Current Personnel in the Lab

GUILHERME J. M. ROSA
Principal Investigator
Guilherme is a Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at UW-Madison, with an affiliate appointment at the Department of Biostatistics & Medical Informatics. He has vast experience on the analysis of both experimental and observational data in agriculture, using contemporary statistical and computational techniques.

ARTHUR FERNANDES
Research Associate
Arthur works on image analysis and computer vision techniques in many applications and with various livestock species. He is also interested in machine learning, data analytics, and animal breeding.

LIGIA MOREIRA
PhD Candidate
Ligia develops research on carcass and meat quality of cull dairy cows, including the effect of farm-level factors and life history events.

KEHAN (SKY) SHENG
Sky is developing a research project on image analysis and computer vision techniques to be used on animal behavior and wellbeing applications.
Undergraduate Research Assistant

TIAGO PASSAFARO
Research Associate
Tiago works on the integration, analysis, and visualization of data related to pig production, providing data-driven solutions to improve farmers’ management decisions. Tiago interests include bioinformatics, genetic analysis of complex traits, and the use of machine learning to tackle challenges in livestock production.

VERA AIKEN
PhD Candidate
Vera's PhD thesis is focused on large scale data integration and analytics. She is using information on millions of beef cattle from Brazil, combined with their nutrition, weather and economic variables during their lives to forecast quality and economic return of beef cattle operations.

YANGFAN WANG
Visiting Scientist
Yangfan is developing research on genome-enable prediction of complex traits in livestock using deep learning techniques.
